History of the Department

Epidemiology and Biostatistics are essential to achieving the goals of Public Health. These disciplines housed together in a department would be synergistic to education, research and service aimed at improving the health of populations.

The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is one of the foundational departments of the School of Public Health when it was established in the year 2014. In the year 2019, the department introduced its flagship Master of Philosophy in Field Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MPhil FEAB) program.

The Department is currently headed by Dr. Yeetey Enuameh. Other Faculty include Prof. Emmanuel K. Nakua, Dr. Arti Singh, Dr. Aliyu Mohammed, Dr. Daniel Boateng. Miss Georgina Dwomor is the Administrative Secretary of the Department. 

Objectives, Mission/Vision

  • Vision – To be a Center of Excellence in the Public Health Sciences of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in Ghana and beyond.
  • Mission – To advance the knowledge and application of the Public Health Sciences of Epidemiology and Biostatistics through quality education, research, and community service in synchrony with appropriate technologies to improve the health of populations globally.
